Last week was the revealing of Apple’s iPhone 12 event. During the event, Apple proudly announced its initiatives to be more environmentally friendly. The company itself relies on 100% renewable energy already. In hopes to aim for a goal of zero climate impact, Apple has resorted to removing iPhone chargers.
Participants of the event will know that a part of Apple’s initiative will include shipping the iPhone’s without earbuds and chargers. Apple’s reasoning for this is that it will lower needless waste.
Apple’s initiative to remove all earbuds and chargers is the company’s hope to lessen its climate impact. The removal of the earbuds alone would help the company in removing a good portion of its climate impact. Many people now do not use earbuds, especially younger people who opt for Bluetooth wireless headphones such as the AirPods Pro. The additional removal of the charger assists the company’s initiative, but what will happen to newer customers who wish to buy the new iPhone 12?
